Samsun has become the favourite city of the region in recent years due to its advantages both in terms of location and its existing infrastructure, specialization and quality improvement in health services.

 

With the presence of a faculty of medicine, bed capacity approximately 5 thousand and 26 public and private hospitals, Samsun is a city that meets health care appeals in any field ranging from mental and nervous diseases to orthodontics, from general diseases to cardiovascular surgery and interventions. Especially in Samsun, which has the potential for spa/ thermal tourism, accommodation facilities around such thermal centres have developed in recent years to turn this potential to advantage.

 

Significant projects have been started in recent years by realizing the potential in the healthcare sector. "Samsun, the City of Health" is one of these projects. This project has provided  promotion advantage to the city and Samsun Health Sector Platform has been established. New investments are being made in order to alleviate the burden of Samsun being a regional health center. In this context, the construction works of Tekkeköy State Hospital with 200 beds and Samsun City Hospital with 900 beds, which are included in the 2021 Public Investment Program, are continuing and it is aimed to complete by 2023.

 


Samsun is also home to the first pharmaceutical company established in Anatolia. The production of the medications of the leading companies of the world are being carried out and there is a production facility with a capacity of 65 million boxes.
