Samsun is located on the middle of Black Sea coastal band between the deltas where Yeşilırmak and Kızılırmak rivers flow into the Black Sea and has 9,725 km2 surface area. Neighbours of the city located at the South of the Black Sea, are Ordu at the east, Sinop at the West, Tokat and Amasya at the South and Çorum at the southwest.

Samsun is a logistic base in the Region with land, air, iron and sea connections. Samsun, the gate of the Black Sea to Anatolia, increases its weight in sea transportation with its ports. Samsun Port is the largest and the only port in the Black Sea Region which has a railway connection. The common point of the cargo coming from Anatolia and going to Anatolia is Samsun. Many neighbouring provinces are in the hinterland of Samsun with railway and highway connections.

 

European energy corridor and terminal

Samsun has become an energy base thanks to region's position in the energy sector. It is a multi-energy centre with its proximity to rich energy sources and international commercial relations. Natural gas from Russia reaches to Samsun and from here to Turkey, with the Blue Stream pipeline under the Black Sea.

 

Qualified labour

As one of the most prestigious university in Turkey, "Ondokuz Mayıs University" and  founded in 2018, "Samsun University" provide great contributions to the city's qualified workforce. Besides it is possible to find trained staff in different sectors due to the industrial infrastructure that the city has had ever since. In recent years, the number of employees with work experience in the rapidly growing services sector is increasing. Various projects of public institutions are continuing in the field of qualified labour force training and vocational training.

 

Great domestic market

Samsun is the biggest city of North Anatolia with a population of approximately 1.3 million. Especially in summer and at weekends it attracts visitors from the region, from metropolises such as Istanbul and Ankara and from abroad.
